Businesses seeking employees have a resource for trained, motivated employees through Goodwill Industries - Opportunities in Tyler. Job training and placement services are provided to anyone with a barrier to employment.

Vocational Evaluation:
Extensive academic, interest, and ability assessments used to determine vocational strengths and limitations in an effort to provide the consumer with suitable vocational options. Various tests including the WRIOT, WRAT-4, CAPS survey, and Valpar work samples, as well as other testing materials are administered and analyzed by qualified vocational rehabilitation professionals.
 
Work Adjustment Training:
Paid training designed to address work behaviors, motivation, self-reliance, work tolerance, and good work practices. Training tasks include: demanufacturing computers, sorting donated items, and working in the retail store. Focus of training is on behavior modification utilizing positive reinforcement.
Vocational Adjustment Training:
Training in the areas of socially appropriate behavior, communication, budgeting, goal setting, and time management as well as other areas that pertain to daily activities.
 
Personal Social Adjustment Training:
A PSA trainer works directly with an individual in developing socially acceptable behavior, developing or restoring confidence in self or others, and understanding motivation and behavior in self and others.
 
Job Quest Training:
Employment Specialist works with individuals to learn how to create a data sheet in order to fill out applications appropriately, interviewing skills training, functional resume development and job search skills to assist the individual to transition into job placement services.
 
Job Placement Assistance:
The Job placement specialist will work with individuals with barriers to employment in locating competitive employment that is consistent with the individual’s strengths, resources, interests, and abilities. Assistance with identifying, coordinating, and providing support services necessary for beginning employment are also provided.
 
Job Coaching:
Job Coach works directly with the individual at the job and assist with any accommodations that may be needed for that job, as well as help the individual adjust to employment. The job coach would identify problems as they arise and solve them before they become a crisis for the individual and employer.
 
On The Job Training:
On the job training opportunities to train the individual in the job skills needed for certain positions in order to maintain that job opportunity.
 
Career Focus Program:
The objective of the Career Focus Program at Goodwill Industries of East Texas is to assist high school seniors and college freshmen and sophomores to be able to determine appropriate and realistic career goals and objectives.
 
Rehabilitation Counseling:
Vocational/Career counseling provided by a certified rehabilitation counselor focusing on individual counseling in the areas of adjustment to medical/psychosocial impact of disabilities, as well as intervention to remove environmental, employment, and attitudinal barriers in the employment setting.
Licensed Professional Counseling:
Licensed Professional Counselor Intern works directly with the individual in a counseling setting to address behavioral and emotional issues interfering with the person’s ability to function in a socially acceptable manner.
