Frequently Asked
Questions
What kind of
vehicles does Goodwill accept?
Goodwill accepts automobiles, trucks,
vans, motorcycles, RVs and boats on
trailers. It is not necessary for the
vehicle to be in running condition. The
donor must be able to sign over a clear
title and the keys to the vehicle.
How do I donate my
vehicle?
You can drive your vehicle to the nearest
Goodwill store or Goodwill will send a
tow service to pick up your vehicle. To
schedule a pick-up, call (903) 593-8438.
Or you can click here and donate online.
How much is my
vehicle worth as a tax deduction?
Donors will receive a donation receipt
that shows the vehicle was picked up, the
make, model and mileage. When you file
your taxes, you will have to complete the
proper forms for your tax return.
Per IRS publication 561, all
not-for-profit organizations are
prohibited from assigning values or
estimates to donated items. In general
the amount you can deduct is based on the
fair market value of the vehicle.
Why should I donate
to Goodwill?
Donating a vehicle to Goodwill is
convenient and often yields a tax
deduction. And your donation helps fund
Goodwill's job training and employment
programs for people with barriers to
employment in East Texas.
